You are invited to our next event … Wednesday, January 28, 2009

People have said to me that they do not go to football parties because they do not understand the game. They said they were missing out on networking opportunities – not to mention a fun time.

I grew up watching football games. My father was captain of his college team and later a professor at several universities. So many Saturdays of my childhood were spent at a football game.

I decided to launch a division of Effective Networking, called WaterCoolerFootball. We would host events where people could learn how to watch a football game.

I thought it would be more fun to work with someone who played and likes to help others learn so I have partnered with a former New England Patriot, Paul Francisco. He also played for the Miami Dolphins and Boston University.

Paul’s story is amazing. He came to the United States from Honduras as a teenager not speaking a word of English. He started high school, thought football was soccer, learned to play the American version, became a star player and earned scholarship to Boston University. Since retiring from professional football, Paul hasĀ  been part of the business community in Boston. He loves football, continues to attend Pats games, and stays in touch with other football alums.

Here’s a rough agenda for the afternoon:

  • 5:00 pm – Arrive, get a drink, have some appetizers, meet others
  • 5:30 pm – Paul will share his football knowledge, providing the basics for people who want to understand a bit more than the pile of guys
  • 7:00 pm – We’ll take a break. Meet some other fellow future football fans, refresh your drink and have some more fun!

Location: Doyle’s Cafe, Boston (Jamaica Plain) (Details sent with registration)

Cost:

  • $35 per person for the first 10 people (includes pizza and workshop); cash bar
  • $45 per person after
  • $50 at the door
